You can change your nickname before you meet any friends. However, when you started to connect with someone, you'll only have one chance to update your nickname.
To change your nickname, please follow this instruction.
- Go to My Profile (hamburger tab, bottom menu)
- Scroll down to your nickname under About Me
- Tap "Edit" on the right
- Update and save
